Aquasure Water Softener Review: The Harmony Series, Checked Against Aquasure’s Own Specs

Quick answer: the Aquasure Harmony Series is a solid budget salt-based softener for city water: a metered digital valve with three regeneration modes, cross-link resin, sizes from 32,000 to 72,000 grains and a 10-year warranty on the resin and brine tanks. The trade-offs are a 1-year base warranty on the valve, electronics and resin (5 years only if you register within 60 days), no labor coverage, no NSF or WQA certification, no iron removal, and specs that differ between Aquasure’s website and its Amazon listing. For most families of 3 to 5, the 48,000-grain model is the one to price; use the size picker to check.

What Aquasure does well

  • Widely available, including on Amazon
  • Metered valve with time, meter-immediate and meter-delayed modes
  • Five sizes on Amazon, 32,000 to 72,000 grains
  • 10-year coverage on the resin tank and brine tank
  • Clear support articles for salt, settings and installation

What to watch for

  • 1-year base warranty; register within 60 days for 5 years
  • No labor or freight covered under warranty
  • Not listed by NSF or WQA (checked November 2026)
  • Aquasure lists “Iron Reduction: No,” and iron voids resin coverage
  • Flow, bathroom and salt figures differ between Aquasure.com and Amazon

How we reviewed it: we haven’t installed or tested an Aquasure softener ourselves. We compared the Specifications tabs on aquasureusa.com, Aquasure’s warranty page and support articles, and the Amazon listing, and searched the NSF and WQA certification listings. Where Aquasure’s sources disagree, we show both.

Good to know: Aquasure.com lists the 48,000-grain model for 4–5 bathrooms and 5–6 people, while its Amazon listing says 3–4 bathrooms and up to 5 people. Size by your hardness and household instead, as the picker below does.

Which Aquasure Harmony size do you need?

Enter your hardness and household. You’ll get the smallest Harmony size that covers a week of softening, checked against Aquasure’s limits.

Aquasure Harmony 40,000 grain

Your water needs about 33,600 grains of capacity for a weekly regeneration. Aquasure.com doesn’t list this size’s flow rate, so confirm it with Aquasure. Check price on Amazon.

Sizing uses the same method as our size calculator: your hardness (iron is treated before an Aquasure softener, so it isn’t counted), 75 gallons per person a day, a weekly regeneration and 75% of the rated capacity. Flow figures are Aquasure.com’s; it doesn’t list the 40,000 and 72,000-grain sizes.

Can Aquasure handle iron or well water?

Aquasure markets the Harmony for city or well water, but its own specifications say “Iron Reduction: No,” and its warranty says resin and internal valve parts aren’t covered on systems used to remove iron, manganese or chlorine above the suggested level. If your well has iron, put an iron filter ahead of the softener; see our well water filtration guide and softeners for iron. Aquasure has also sold a fine-mesh-resin version of the 48,000-grain model (AS-HS48FM) for water with some iron, but we didn’t find an iron rating for it.

Warranty and returns

TermWhat Aquasure says

Resin tank and brine tankReplaced if they fail within 10 years, if operated per the manual and not frozen
Not coveredLabor and freight; resin and valve parts on systems used for iron, manganese or chlorine above the suggested level
ReturnsWithin 30 days of the invoice for orders from AquasureUSA.com; refunds may be reduced for used or installed items or restocking fees. Amazon orders follow Amazon’s returns.

Good to know: Aquasure’s product pages also mention a “2-year extended warranty for all Aquasure registered products,” while its warranty page gives 5 years for registered softeners and the Amazon listing says 5. Register right away and keep the confirmation. Compare these terms with other brands in our water softener brands guide.

Is Aquasure certified?

We didn’t find Aquasure in the NSF/ANSI 44 listing for water softeners or in WQA’s product search on November 4, 2026, and Aquasure’s pages don’t claim either certification. NSF/ANSI 44 is the standard used to assess softener performance, so the 32,000 to 72,000-grain ratings are Aquasure’s own. That’s common for budget softeners; if certification matters to you, compare a certified model.

Aquasure bundles with reverse osmosis

Aquasure also sells Harmony softeners bundled with a 75-gallon-per-day reverse osmosis drinking water system, such as the 32,000-grain bundle and 64,000-grain bundle on Amazon. A softener and RO do different jobs; before choosing a bundle, compare certified RO systems in our under sink reverse osmosis guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is Aquasure a good water softener?

For the money, it’s a reasonable choice on city water: metered regeneration, cross-link resin, a 10-year tank warranty and wide availability. Its weak points are the short base warranty unless you register, no certification and no iron removal.

What size Aquasure water softener do I need?

Multiply your hardness in gpg by your household’s daily water use (about 75 gallons a person) and by 7 days, then choose a size with about a third more capacity. For 4 people at 12 gpg, that’s about 33,600 grains, so the 40,000 or 48,000-grain model.

How long does an Aquasure softener last?

Aquasure covers the resin and brine tanks for 10 years and the valve, electronics and resin for 1 year, or 5 with registration. Its Amazon listing gives the resin a 10+ year life. Our softener lifespan guide explains what wears out first.

Where is the Aquasure water softener manual?

Aquasure’s support center has Harmony articles for installation, salt and water levels, and regeneration settings; contact Aquasure support for the full manual for your model and serial number.

Does Aquasure remove iron?

No. Aquasure lists “Iron Reduction: No” for the Harmony, and its warranty excludes resin and valve parts on systems used to remove iron above the suggested level. Treat iron first.

How often should an Aquasure softener regenerate?

In meter-delayed mode it regenerates at 2:00 AM once the set number of gallons is used, so the frequency depends on your hardness and water use. Our regeneration guide shows how to work it out.
